Jentel Monet Hawkins is an American actress who has provided voice-over work for animation, television and radio commercials and has performed in live-action. She is best known for voicing Dame in Disney's 2019 Lady and the Tramp. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia in the early 90s, she grew up playing sports, performing in school plays and watching cartoons. In her last year at Kennesaw State University, she had the opportunity to shadow executive producer, Tom Verica, on the set of Scandal where she soon met Grey's Anatomy creator, Shonda Rhimes. Verica suggested she move to Los Angeles and pursue working in TV production to learn more about the industry. In 2017, Jentel began her career as a production assistant on Shonda Rhimes' For The People, ABC's The Fix, Disney's Lady and the Tramp & The Little Mermaid, where she provided scratch tracks in pre-production. By 2019, Hawkins had her first professional job as the voice of Dame on Lady and the Tramp. With her new Screen Actors Guild card, she also performed normal acting roles on the television show, Better Things. She has since lended her voice to BMW, American Career College, and The Zebra for TV and radio commercials. In 2021, Hawkins auditioned and landed roles for Cartoon Network, HBO Max, Netflix, Nickelodeon, and an up-and-coming SAG podcast 'Broken Road'.
